The following is a recap of the first discussion by   Dan Crothers, COO and Co-Founder of Ecomi/VeVe on Discord's VeVe Official #general-chat lobby on April 2, 2021.

Summary

  • Ultraman 2D Super Rare will not be delivered during this downtime
  • Ecomi Secure Wallet will be restocked in a few weeks and a new update to the app is coming soon
  • VeVe is considering options on a new drop strategy
  • Gem refund will happen before the Mermicorno drop
  • Will look at new channel dedicated to updates
  • Full sets will be available for sale
  • VeVe OMI wallet upgrades are almost in place
  • Down for maintenance from 03:15 am to 07:00 am April 2, 2021 to prepare for the upcoming drops
  • iOS does not have OMI wallet need to go to web address omi.veve.me
  • VeVe looking into 1 Euro = 1 Gem. Fees from Google and Apple affect the price
  • There is a purchase limit in place. 5 for Common / Uncommon, 2 Rare, and 1 Ultra Rare
  • The number of Ultraman 2D drop will be announced
  • Future editions will have higher editions
  • VeVe app will have 2FA and biometric security
  • Working on changing drop times to meet other countries (ie. Australia)
  • Star Trek is coming soon
  • VeVe app will have Maintenance mode
  • VeVe is from New Zealand
  • Classic Ultraman coming soon

Was thinking this. Running any business comes with a lot of demands, but one that is exploding in popularity is like playing whack-a-mole. It is literally impossible to stay on top of everything even when hiring more and more people, and remember that hiring people then involves time + training so it sets you even further back in the 8000 other things that require immediate attention
 
Been in this boat before and it's exciting, but stressful and not easy on the sleep. I think most people here have confidence in Ecomi / VeVe to get the job done

Hey Dan, I and many other users were wondering if the distribution of collectors points/the weighting of collectors points could be changed. Many of us are of the opinion, that owning collectibles/sets should give more collectors points than a follow or like. Ever since users found out that follows give collectors points every single comment section is filled with follow 4 follow. We believe that the best thing to do would be to split the two categories into social interaction points and collector points, as in our opinion receiving collector points for a follow is broken as it would make it possible for an account with 0 collectibles or sets to have a disproportionate amount of collectors points. Sorry for the long text, just wanted to give an opinion.

Yes, 100% - and in some cases, like Batman, these are the actual 3D models the artists sculpted

OMI is a utility token used to buy digital collectibles in the VeVe app both in the Store and secondary market.

Whenever a purchase takes place on the VeVe platform, an equivalent amount of OMI is burnt and removed from circulation, then a percentage of those purchases goes into buybacks

Great question, and one we get asked a lot

So VeVe digital collectibles are 100% NFTs, like you would expect. However, the caveat right now is some licensors are still a bit cautious of blockchain, so at their request the digital collectibles remain within VeVe - FOR NOW

Later this year we have big brands coming in who will be going straight to interoperable NFTS

It's just a matter of time until the VeVe plaform is opened up

The deflationary token - The OMI token has two uses: firstly, it is the utility token of the VeVe NFT ecosystem, in that every new NFT purchase uses OMI, and in not too distant future staking it/being a liquidity provider will enable you to acquire certain exceptionally rare and valuable NFTs. Secondly, you need OMI tokens (which in the app are actually Gems) in order to participate in the peer-to-peer market.

The mechanics are designed to create token scarcity as adoption and NFT sales grow, due to the deflationary nature of the token supply.

The normie stablecoin - In order to make the experience of using the app as seamless as possible for mainstream users who would prefer to just buy NFTs and don't want to engage with the volatility of crypto, there is an in-app stablecoin called "gems" each of which always represents $1. So these mainstream users can buy gems with their fiat, safe in the knowledge that if they leave them in their wallet for a month before they come back to buy an NFT, 1 gem will still be worth $1.

Under the hood, however, every transaction runs on OMI. Let's go through the two main types of transaction to understand how this works in practice.

Mechanics of new NFT purchases - When a user buys a new NFT by converting their OMI into in-app gems and swapping those for the NFT, all of that OMI is permanently burned, reducing the circulating supply. The OMI tokens that were swapped actually get held in a wallet, called the Vault wallet, and when the Gems that represent them are spent in the store, they’re burnt.

If on the other hand a user who does not own OMI directly buys in-app gems with cash (fiat), then the equivalent amount of OMI (based on the spot rate at that time) is taken out of the in-app reserve and held in the Vault wallet. When those Gems are spent in the Store, the underlying OMI are again burnt, reducing the reserve supply. In order to keep the reserve liquid, 10% of the money used for store purchases (minus platform fees) is used to buy back OMI from exchanges.

Example: If a user spends $100 on a new NFT, the equivalent in OMI is permanently burned and $10 is spent on buybacks from exchanges.

Mechanics of secondary market NFT purchases-If a user swaps their OMI into Gems and then buys an NFT on the secondary market from another user, those Gems (and therefore the underlying OMI) are transferred to the seller. If they are then spent on a purchase in the VeVe Store, those OMI are burnt

If a user chooses to buy those gems with fiat, 100% of that money (minus platform fees) is used to buy back OMI from exchanges. I repeat, 100%. This is a big deal, as the secondary market is expected to be bigger than the primary market.
Example: If a user spends $100 on a secondary market purchase, after Google/Apple fees, $70 is spent on buybacks.

Basically, when purchases are made in the Store (whether it's with fiat or Gems), OMI tokens get burnt.

Right now that is the only way the tokens get burnt. When we implement the coming changes to allow Gem > OMI swaps, there will be a 2.5% fee placed In the Market (peer to peer marketplace), to be paid by the seller, which is also burnt.

So both marketplaces will burn OMI at that point. e.g. i sell a collectible in the market for 100 Gems. 2.5 Gems is burnt (which is actually 2.5 Gems worth of OMI, gets moved from the Vault wallet which is where it is currently being held, and sent to the out of circulation wallet).

the buybacks come from:
10% of sales in the Store
100% of the revenue generated from the sale of Gems (which is done with fiat).

How to Buy OMI Token with USDT (Tether) on BitForex

So, first things first, and for anyone new to our community, ECOMI is the company, and VeVe is a digital collectibles platform built by ECOMI

When we started designing and building VeVe, we really wanted to take everything people already know and love about physical collecting, and translate it into a new digital world

In order to do that, we had to build the platform for the mass market, otherwise we would be limiting our audience and creating a lot of barriers to entry (which we've seen a few other NFT platforms experience recently). So the app itself actually hides all of the 'crypto' stuff from the user, and allows an ordinary person to come in, understand it quickly, and begin their digital collection

one of the key points of difference with our approach though is the licensing

over the past 2 years or so we have acquired the licensing rights to more than 100 mainstream brands, which all come with established fanbases around the world, and in doing so are able to create incredible 3d models and sculptures, interactive collectibles and a whole lot more, based on these existing brands

the best part is that VeVe is a smartphone app, so now any fan, from anywhere in the world, has access to this new world of collecting and fandom right in the palm of their hand

we identified early on that wallets, keys, tokens, all of those things were huge pain points in a product like this, so we've worked the whole design and tokenomic system to be hidden to the normal user

so, on VeVe we offer a wide range of collectibles (and soon accessories as well).

These can be:
Static- like the 3D sculptures you see in the app now

Interactive- like if it's a vehicle you'll be able to open doors, turn the wheel. Or maybe a monster from Monster Hunter doing their death move

Controllable- this is more applicable to our vehicles, and actually come under a new category of game i believe, an Augmented Reality Game or ARG! It means you can literally drive the collectibles around, in augmentd reality, like a little RC car

and into the app we've build AR features and capabilities, there's no point being a collector if you can't show them off!

So right now VeVe is a hybrid system. We had to design it that way to manage the security of peoples NFTs in an easy to understand manner, it wouldnt look good if new users came in, bought collectibles, then lost their keys and therefore lost access to their collectibles.

It was also important in the early days of securing licenses as 'blockchain' was a bad word to mention but recently more and more of them are opening up to the new digital future. So coming mid year we'll be opening up interoperability of our NFTs, and some of our bigger license partners will be going straight to interoperability too. With our existing partners there is a lot of legalese to be established, as these opportunities have never been available to them before, so we're really hand holding a lot of these brands through the digital transition

yeah right now OMI is available on bitforex and bitmax exchange, and we're going live on uniswap next week too- this will be a wrapped token as we run on GoChain right now, not ethereum

We also have the Secure Wallet- our own cold storage wallet- which was actually the first product made by ECOMI

so that natively stores the OMI token and about 1000 other digital assets. people can find more info about it at secure-wallet.io and on our blog if they're interested

for sure. the whole point of building VeVe this way was so that anyone could use it, and so far that seems to be the reaction/adoption we're getting. We've only been live for 3 months and already have 80,000 + users in the app!

before long we'll be rolling out branded/licensed versions of the secure wallet too, so you might be able to get a batman crypto wallet for example

and in the not too distant future a shelf-ready retail wallet/starter pack, which will be a less robust version of the Secure Wallet, but come with a redemption code for a collectible on VeVe as well

so you'll see our VeVe wallets in tech and gaming stores some time in the future too!

sure is. In an update coming to the app soon (should be live in the next week or two) we're adding 2FA protection, and not long after biometrics will be available as well

We haven't released details on it yet, but we are also building the VeVeVerse, which is pretty well where this will take place. There are still restrictions on how/where these licensors IP can be used, but the goal behind it is to build utility into the collectibles themselves, so you can maybe drive your collectible DeLorean to your friends place in our virtual world, or be the batman character that you own and love, things like that.

for sure! That's really what we're trying to capture and re-create. Instead of needing a whole room to show off your collectibles, or for other people to have to come to your house to enjoy it, now you can do it from the palm of your hand, while enabling a whole host of customisations that you just cant do in the physical world

i wish i could drop some partnerships, but I would probably lose my job!

I will say that we have a brand new type of digital product that will roll out on VeVe in a couple of months time, so definitely keep an eye out for that.

And really I think it's important to highlight that VeVe is a platform, not just an app. That let's us take this in a lot of directions and provide incredible amounts of premium digital content.

For example, later in the year we'll be opening the 'artists alley' which will see a number of world class artists come onto the platform for some digital only releases. It will also provide a way for incredible up and coming artists to display their works as well, and im hoping to have some more news out about that soon!

Well gems are a reoccurring theme in premium games, and we see them making an appearance in the VeVe app as well

What are the gems for, and why do you use them in the App instead of OMI?

So, because VeVe is built for the mass market, we also needed an in-app currency that was familiar and easy to use- Gems.

But Gems are actually just OMI tokens wearing different pants.

So all of the transactions in the app run using the OMI token, but to the end user they don't see any of the technical blockchain stuff, they just come in, can purchase Gems using an in-app purchase, or swap their OMI tokens into Gems, and then buy their favourite collectibles.

Where it gets really interesting though is our 'pumpamentals' as you put it haha.

every time an NFT is sold, the OMI tokens used in the transaction are burnt

forever.

i think we've already burnt 2.4 billion tokens or something crazy, so our total token supply is actually deflating over time

i dont know of any other project that offers that

in order to keep the in-app Reserve topped up, we also have a system of buybacks, using the revenue generated from those sales, which creates on-going buy pressure for OMI on exchanges

the design of the app and the use of the OMI token also means that a vast majority of the total token supply never reaches circulation, and we released some news last week that another 97 billion tokens was burnt as well, so really the more NFTs we sell, the more scare the OMI token becomes. and in 3 months we've sold more than 100,000 NFTs, so i think we can all see where this is headed longer term

great question. So Gems actually act like an in-app stable coin.

1 Gem = $1 USD

That way we can price collectibles in a way that is easy to understand too.

You convert your OMI to Gems at the market rate, so, theoretically if the token price increases, you can now get more Gems for your tokens, and therefore more collectibles

the OMI > gem swap is being refactored by our dev's at the moment, but should be back to normal by the end of the week, and then it's a breeze to do

You can list your items at a 'buy now' price or put the up for auction and let the mayhem take over! hahaha i think we've seen some go for nearly 3000 Gems ($3k usd) already so there are a lot of opportunities with the collectibles too.

Before long you'll also be able to search users and offer trades as well, like my 1 batman for your 3 powerpuff girls, that kind of thing.

when the NFTs become interoperable you'll be able to send them out of the app to open marketplaces like opensea as well, but you wont get the full VeVe/AR experience like you do in the app itself

My understanding is part of Ecomi’s strategy is to adopt real users so that they stick with the platform, and the fact that they need to understand this and go off the platforms they might be used to in order to obtain OMI kind of works in their favor doesn’t it?

What the 'dollar value' of that equates to will be different for every person, and if you reallllly love a particular batman you might not ever sell it, but having the option available to you is a big leg up too

for sure, i really dont think it'll be long before the digital collectible market overtakes the physical, it just makes things too easy for collectors, and you get all the same value propositions e.g. scarcity, rarity, 1/1's, exclusive editions, all of that can now be translated into digital, but you can also sell them at the push of a button to anyone in the world, that's something that really wasn't possible before NFTs.

of course it extends to digital art and beyond as well, so it's really exciting to see where the industry will go in the next few years

Rather than an NFT that represents a physical counterpart, we're going to be enabling releases where you buy the digital version and you have a 1 in X chance of winning a physical one too, or it may be that everyone who buys the digital gets a physical representation too, theres a lot of crossover there that can help to bridge the digital/physical art world and introduce fans and collectors to new artists too

i honestly think that just about everything will be represented by an NFT at some point

it just makes more sense to be able to buy/trade these assets without always needing to move the physical item around. Even when it comes to things like house deeds, i like the idea of being able to buy a portion of a property, and diversifying across different countries, for example

same deal with cars, art, whatever you want, NFT's enable truly liquid markets where they have never been available before, and I think they stand to have as big an impact on finance (if not bigger) than crypto-as a currency/financial alternative- already has

You can already grant users/fans special access to things just for holding NFTs, like in decentraland for example, maybe wearing a certain pair of digital shoes will let you into a private room or something. i dont see why they cant be used for ID purposes too, and for passwords and things.

once we have real integrations between physical and digital items, it could be something as simple as a watch, that looks ordinary to most people, but unlocks your house or your data or something like that. Or you scan a photo in your house that is also linked to your digital identity, starts to become keys hidden in plain sight

i really like the web3 movement happening at the moment, and building a digital identity/trust score

definitely not. Anything sold out can be acquired by buying/selling with other users in the Market, so people can still collect their favourites there, but anything sold out is foreever unavailable in the Store

the same as minting any token, we only mint a limited number of each collectible, and once that's done there wont be any more.

The number minted also depends on rarity, so Secret rare or ultra rare will always be the most limited, and then you go down the rungs rare, uncommon and common (which has the most)

so you might have 7500 commons, and only 1000 ultra rares

if we kept releasing them you would just saturate the market, and the whole point is that these are very limited edition, scarce items

of course the numbers may change depending on the brand too, some more popular ones or with more IP may give us opportunities to offer different things, like higher runs on really fun collectibles so they're available to more people. We've managed to collect a great amount of feedback in the 3 months that we've been live, so we'll continue taking that into consideration too as we move forward and build out the platform

How to Activate a Google Authenticator Number

 

This article provides a guide to downloading and activating Google Authenticator for your mobile phone. This page is for both Android and Apple-based mobile phones. Google Authenticator is compatible with Android OS and Apple iOS.

 

Background

Google Authenticator generates an additional verification step through your phone. It provides stronger security for your accounts by requiring two-factor authentication (2FA) when you sign in. In addition to your password, you'll also need a code generated by the Google Authenticator app on your phone.  Google Authenticator is a standard requirement for crypto wallet accounts.

Note: A Google account is required for this app.

a) Go to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and search Google Authenticator

 

b) Install the application to your phone. Click on Open

 

 

 

c) Click on Begin

 

 

d)  Add an Account. Click on Scan a barcode

 

 

e) Click on Allow to allow Authenticator to take pictures

 

 

f) Scan the QR code

 

 

g) Once scanned, a new verification code will appear with the entity's name under the number. The blue dot indicates the time you have to use the code.

How to Create a VeVe OMI Wallet

 

Although the original OMI wallet was available on the beta VeVe App, the option to activate the wallet disappeared after the second upgrade.  As a result, the VeVe wallet is still available on their mobile app for those that activated it during the beta stage and is only available online for newer app users.

This article provides a guide to open your existing VeVe OMI wallet online. This guide is for devices compatible with Windows 10 and newer, and MacOS 10.11 and higher.

Note:

You must have a VeVe app account established in order to create a VeVe Wallet.  

The VeVe App ties your VeVe collectibles, VeVe Gem wallet, and OMI wallet into one repository.

How to Add an External Wallet in Crypto.com

a)  Open Crypto.com app and click on Transfer

 

 

b) Click on Withdraw

 

 

 

c) Click on Crypto

 

 

d) Click on External Wallet

 

 

e) Select Add Wallet Address

 

 

f) Select Ethereum (Note this example is based on Ethereum) or applicable cryptocurrency.

 

 

 

j) Select the QR code symbol

 

 

k)  Scan the cryptocurrency exchange's QR code and the Ethereum Address will populate on your phone. Input WALLET NAME (Exchange Name) ETH and select Continue. ie. BitForex ETH

 

l) Check your email to confirm your new wallet address screen will appear. Select Open Email.

 

 

m) Open your email from your mobile phone and select Confirm Withdrawal Address

 

 

n) The address will appear in your Withdrawal Whitelist

How to Buy OMI - A Step by Step Guide

 

This is a step-by-step guide on how to buy the OMI token securely. This guide is for devices compatible with Windows 10 and newer, MacOS 10.11 and higher, Android OS, and Apple iOS.

The OMI token "serves as a medium of exchange," where you buy, sell, or trade your digital collectibles on the VeVe app.[1] ECOMI Technologies PTE Ltd, based out of Singapore initially listed their OMI token through BitForex.com[2] on May 13, 2019.

The initial step is to get a crypto-fiat wallet so that you can purchase Ethereum cryptocurrency with U.S. dollars.  If you already have Ethereum, go to Step 3.

 

Step 1 - Create a Fiat Wallet with a Crypto Exchange

a) U.S. Citizens (excludes New York)

i) Create a Crypto.com Wallet  Please use the referral code xkh64rqrh2

 

b) U.S. Citizens (excludes Alabama, Rhode Island, and Hawaii)

i) Create a Binance.us Wallet

 

c) International (excludes U.S. citizens)

i) Create a Binance.com Wallet

 

Step 2 - Purchase Ethereum

 

Be forewarned this is the step that can be burdensome because your cryptocurrency purchase may get blocked depending on your bank/credit card company's policy on cryptocurrency purchases.  This may result in many irate calls to your bank requesting them to take a hold off of your account. Some may refuse and you may need to change banks. USAA is a great bank that allows cryptocurrency purchases.

 

Note: I recommend you use a debit card by Visa.

 

a) Log in to Crypto.com App and select Trade

 

 

b) Select Buy

 

 

c) Select Ethereum

 

 

d) Select + Add Credit or Debit Card

 

 

e) Input your card information and select Add Card

 

 

f) Input the amount of Ethereum to purchase and select Buy (Amount) ETH

 

 

g) Select the box I understand that a 0.0%(Note the example is during a no-fee promotion) is required for every card purchase and select Continue

 


 

h) Select Confirm

 

 

i) Processing screen will appear

 

 

j) Enter Passcode

 

 

 

k) Verify your transaction (this is an example from USAA)

i) Select No(so that you can conduct the transaction on the App) and select Next

 

 

ii) Select how your temporary code gets sent to you via email or phone text and select Next

 

 

iii) Enter the temporary code (Received through email or text) and select Submit

 

 

l)  You have successfully purchased Ethereum and will get the following message.Tap anywhere to close the message.

 

 

m)  You will receive an email from Crypto.com confirming your purchase. Note: It may take a while for your transaction to go through (sometimes 2+ hours)

 

 

Step 3 - Create a BitForex Wallet and Setup Security Settings

Prior to performing this step, you must have Google Authenticator installed on your mobile phone.

a) Create a BitForex Wallet and Spot Trading Account

 

b)  Setup Google Authenticator secondary passcode

i) Click on the dropdown

 

 

ii) SelectSecurity Settings

 

 

iii) Click on Bind Now under Google Authenticator

 

 

iv) Click Send (a verification code will be sent to your email address)

 

 

v) Enter the Email Verification Code

 

 

vi) Open the Google Authenticator App and click +. You must have Google Authenticator installed on your mobile phone in order to complete this step.

 

 

vii)  Scan the QR code. A new line item Bitforex (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) will appear.

 

 

viii) Enter the Google Verification Code from the Google Authenticator Bitforex code and select Confirm

 

ix) Once complete, the Google Authenticator will have a Checkmark

 

 

c) Set up Trading Password (This is mandatory for all future trades)

i) Click on Go to settings under Trading Password

 

 

ii) Enter a 6-digit password

 

 

iii) Go to your email for the verification code and enter the Verification Code

 

 

iv) Open the Google Authenticator App and enter the Google Verification Code

 

 

v) Once complete, the Trading Password will be checked

 

 

 

Step 4 - Register BitForex.com Wallet in Crypto.com Wallet

a)  Open Crypto.com app and click on Transfer

 

 

b) Click on Withdraw

 

 

 

c) Click on Crypto

 

 

d) Click on External Wallet

 

 

e) Select Add Wallet Address

 

 

f) Select Ethereum (Note this example is based on Ethereum)

 

 

g) Open Bitforex and click on Deposit under Ethereum.

 

 

h) Click on QR Code

 

 

i) This will open the QR code for you to scan into your Crypto.com app

 

 

j) On your Crypto.com app select the QR code symbol

 

 

k)  Scan the BitForex QR code image and the Ethereum Address will populate on your phone. Input WALLET NAME Bitforex ETH and select Continue.

 

l) The Check your email to confirm your new wallet address screen will appear. Select Open Email.

 

 

m) Open your email from your mobile phone and select Confirm Withdrawal Address

 

 

n) The address will appear in your Withdrawal Whitelist (keep this open for Step 5)

 

Step 5 - Transfer Ethereum from Crypto.com Wallet to BitForex Wallet

a) Click on Withdraw ETH

 

b) Select how much ETH in US dollars to transfer, enter notes in Send Note (Optional) and click Withdraw

 

 

c) Enter Passcode

 

 

d) Tap Anywhere to close the Your ETH withdrawal request has been submitted screen

 

 

e) You will receive an email notification also confirming the withdrawal request has been received. The transaction will take up to 2+ hours (depending on the time of day)

 

 

f) Once the withdrawal is complete, you will receive an email notification

 

 

Step 6- Transfer ETH from BitForex Wallet to Spot Account

a) On Bitforex, click X to close the QR code window

 

 

b) Click on Transfer

 

 

 

c) Select ETH under Coin/Token, Spot Account, Transfer All, and Continue

 

 

 

Step 7 - Convert Cryptocurrency to USDT (Tether)

a) Sell ETH (Ethereum) for USDT (Tether) 

 

Step 8- Buy OMI (Congratulations on getting this far, you're almost there)

a) Buy OMI Token with USDT (Tether)
